It’s durable even if I walk/hike-a-bike a lot on side walkI hate when they are new and don’t release predictably. Usually have one fall as result. Then there’s like an 6-8 month sweet spot of awesome performance. Eventually they wear out and start to release unpredictability. Then you repeat the process until your pedal blows up. At that point you can rebuild it with the pedal rebuild kit or just get another set. If you love the feel of eggbeaters / candies, this is the cross you bear. They work great. I ride as fast on this bike as I do my other road bike with look peddles. They clip in and clip out when I want them to. The brass scratches easy but that makes sense because it’s brass under a persons feet. Overall I’m very happy and I will buy these again. I saw that other people buy cheaper versions of these that aren’t right and left specific and have problems with them. I don’t know if that would matter on my peddles but at least I can say I don’t have any problems with these so it’s worth the extra few dollars. It’s better to pay extra for the right part than save money and buy headache medicine because of having to deal with issues. I’m very happy with my purchase. If you use Crank Brothers pedals, these are a seasonal replacement item. They get a low grad on "Durability" precisely because they are made to wear out faster than the steel parts of the pedals (otherwise, you'd be replacing the entire pedals). Because of that fact, they get replaced and your pedals can last a long time. New cleats make the pedals release much more smoothly.Justo lo que esperabalittle Timmy kept popping out of his pedals, Uncle Buck here got him some new brass and he is out kicking butt again! The description is a bit misleading, there is nothing premium about these cleats over the cleat that originally comes with your Crank Brothers pedals; brass is actually comparatively soft. On the Moh's Scale of hardness, it is just slightly harder than gold, silver or aluminum. The trade off that Crank Brothers has to make is to either use a harder cleat material and wear out your $50- $120 Crank Brothers pedals faster, or use a softer metal and provide customers with a long lasting pedal. As I tend to go through these cleats pretty fast, three-to five months of daily commuting (I can go longer but clicking in our out gets pretty sloppy and eventually you will be able to pull out of the pedal without twisting your heel if you pull up hard enough), I'd like to see CrankBrothers or a third party come out with a true premium cleat that is just a little bit more durable, e.g. nickel or nickel plated brass.Common metal hardness using Moh's Scale:Lead - 1.5Tin - 1.5Zinc - 2.5Gold - 2.5 - 3Silver - 2.5 - 3Aluminum - 2.5 - 3Copper - 3Brass - 3Bronze - 3Nickel - 4Platinum - 4 - 4.5Steel - 4 - 4.5Iron - 4.5Palladium - 4.75Rhodium - 6Titanium - 6Hardened Steel - 7 - 8Tungsten - 7.5Tungsten Carbide - 8.5 - 9So I ordered the cleats to replace old ones. Two issues. First issue. Two of the four long screws that are used to tighten the cleats in place appeared to Have been used screws. The head of the screw wereSlightly stripped already. Secondly The box was missing one of the two washers Which are used to place on top of the cleats prior to putting in the screws. I would expect better quality items and better quality control. I’d be pretty disappointed if that was my first set of Cleats and I wasn’t able to use them bc it was missing a washer.Bought these for my 2 year old Eggbeater3. They have huge float both vertical and horizontal. Had to use a metal file to adjust them. Right shoe is good, left one not. Will order a 0 float pair.Perhaps Crank Brothers could explain to me why the original set of cleats that came with the pedals had both long and short screws supplied to ensure proper fitting. While these additional cleats come only with long screws that are digging into the shoe. Really!
