Pros: Solid build quality, the black (paint? powder coat?) on the spindles feels indestructible, the gold anodizing on the platforms has a nice texture and also feels rugged, the adjustable and replaceable studs are well-placed, and these are thinner (top to bottom profile) than the plastic platforms that came on my '19 Kona Mahuna.Cons: There are some light burrs (sharp edges) on the machined areas on the front and back of the platforms. I really don't care, but being a machinist myself I tend to notice things like that. The edges are almost sharp enough to cut oneself on, so do be mindful of that during handling/installation.At first the spindles seemed very stiff, but that was just from being out in the cold. Once they warmed up these pedals spun very nicely and without noticeable resistance under my feet. The gold color is a "close enough for me" match to my gold Wake bar end caps, and the splash of color really makes the bike "pop".Looking forward to really putting these through the wringer!Weighed the pedals before installing them. The gold pedals are 178.5 grams each, for total pair weight of 357 grams. The gold color happens to match the Ohlins gold color fairly close. I don't like the rotational resistance. I expected the bearings to allow much easier spin of the pedals. When I spin the original Specialized Bennies platform pedals, they rotate freely. These pedals have more spin resistance. I'm hoping they will spin freely after a few rides. I'll update the review if they don't perform well. UPDATE: After 30 miles of MTB riding, the pedals don't rotate as easily as I would have liked, but they perform well with my 510 shoes over the blue and black diamond trails. No slippage off the pedals even on the gnarly downhill black trails. They look great on the bike. The pins are holding up to several pedal strikes too. These are fine pedals, but the size is not as described. The description as of 9/11/2017 gives the size as "112 x 97 x 16mm platform."This should mean that the dimension of the platform parallel to the axle is 112mm or 4.4". However, the platform is actually 99mm x 96mm (3.9" x 3.8"). These dimensions are, in fact, printed on the package. I bought these VP-001 pedals because my feet were too wide to fit on my pedals, but I did not get the extra 1/2" of width that I needed. As of 9/23/17, the size has been updated to "109 x 97 x 16mm platform," which is 3mm closer to the truth, but still 10mm off.I’m not a technical expert on pedals, so my view may not mean much, but I’m happy with these pedals. They grip nicely, are strong and well built (they don’t bend when you catch them on rocks, curbs, or the ground), and look good on my bike (they have a nice, thin profile). I’m sure there are better pedals out there — you can spend a lot more — but these have proven a good value. For what it’s worth, I think Rivendell sells a version of these pedals, and if they’re good enough for one of the nation’s most thoughtful bike builders, they’re good enough for me.I ordered these just because they were blue to match the theme I was going with on my new bike, and I couldn't force myself to pay over $100 for Race Face pedals just to have them hit rocks. They're a little smaller platform than I would normally run, but I don't seem to have any problems staying stuck to them (5TEN shoes help too). Interestingly enough, I actually seem to be having less pedal strikes, even though the bottom bracket is slightly lower on the new bike. Maybe these platforms are just the right size? Either way, I the pins in the middle are key IMO, and they perform at or above their price point so they get 5*s from me.Great quality pedal with sturdy construction. Be advised that this is a small and compact design compared to a stamp or Chester style pedal. Some might like this while others may prefer a bigger platform.Put these on my upgraded Mongoose Dolomite fat tire bike, and they are 100% better than the stock pedals. I wish the bearings were a bit smoother. They seem sturdy, look good and they aren't what I call heavy. They kinda have polished spots where reflectors would go, and I think it's to add some level of night safety. Either way I'd recommend for basic riding/commuting.Also, they are super grippy, your feet won't slip.A bit small for me, but my wife ended up liking them for her bike build. Awesome color!
