It's worth paying a bit extra if it gets you a really good product which these are. Just follow any one of the Youtube videos to see how to attach the rack to the back of your car and you'll find it's as easy to attach as the videos make it look. The rack is very solid, has been engineered well, so is sturdy, and the adjustments rings work well and are solid. The first time you use it, I would recommend tightening the securing straps well, then driving over a bumpy road and checking the tightness and readjust the adjustment rings and the straps if necessary. After doing that once or twice, you'll have it set up just right. The other thing I would recommend is to buy a set of 2 or three foot long bungee cords to secure the lower parts of the bikes from swinging out (the top part of the bikes are well secured to the rack). It also makes sense to use bungee cords (one for each side) through the wheels and the frame of the rack to stop the wheels from spinning if driving at highway speeds. This is a very good bike rack. It was given 4 stars instead of 5 due to a couple of drawbacks that were minor to me. For reference, I have the 2 bike version and I installed it on a 2013 Toyota Venza crossover vehicle. It carried one men”s and one woman's bike, and the woman's bike had an inexpensive crossbar installed which was necessary in my case. Once properly installed, it was all very sturdy with little swaying. This rack is quite sturdy and does not require assembly. I found the installation quite easy, partly because I have used trunk mounted racks before and they all go on in a similar way. Once the rack is adjusted for a vehicle it does not have to be readjusted, so the extra time spent in the initial installation (setting strap length, learning where to set the hooks) is not repeated. The four mounting straps only need to be slipped on and tightened properly. It is important to not have the rack rest on the bumper once loaded with bikes in order to avoid denting the bumper. This is accomplished by tightening the upper straps. The minor drawbacks were the rack’s weight and the built in bike lock system. The rack weighs a bit over 20 pounds, a tad weighty but as it seems quite sturdy that appears to be a tradeoff. The built in lock however is annoying as the cable length is quite short-I could only secure the bike located on the outside that is near the lock, with some maneuvering. If you are carrying only one bike, as it must be placed on the inside slot nearest the vehicle the built in cable will not reach, so either use your own cable and lock then looped into the built in system, or buy their extended length cable lock. There are some other nice features. The rack can be secured to the trunk with a strap to help prevent theft, and the bars holding the bikes can be folded down and out of the way when not in use. The inclination of the rack is easily and securely adjusted with a click lock system in order to fit different vehicles, similarly for the bike mounting bars. There is also a system for tucking away the extra strap length.Overall this is a very good bike rack which I am happy with.I was hesitant to bike this bike rack because it wasn’t listed for my car. I bought it and it fit. It was just trial and error to get the right setting but that was extremely easy. Even the guy at the bike shop was impressed how simple it was and he thought the zip tie system to hold the bikes on was fantastic. Once you put the bike on the rack, it takes about 30 seconds per bike and that’s taking your time.one thing, if you have a bike that’s considered “walk through” , you’ll need to buy the bar adapter. I only bought one beforehand for my wife’s bike but I needed to buy another for my trek. I have a 2021 Hyundai Sonata and the hub setting was 3.This product is very well made. No assembly required! Unfortunately, it’s not easy to confirm a compatible fit for my car. Working with the manufacturer on that. That’s why I gave it 4 stars for installation. Hopefully it will all work out!For all of you looking for a rack that will fit the Sonata N-Line this does! Solid and sturdy just make sure you place thin pieces of strip rubber under the hooks just to prevent any scratching. You don’t have to but I did.Sits firmly on car, easy to adjustThis is a very solid bike rack and if your bikes fit on it then I am sure it will be an awesome rack. I happen to have a full-suspension bike and kids bikes, none of which fit on this rack. There is an extra add on you can buy that will allow pretty much any bike to fit this rack. That said, the add-on is an adapter crossbar that attaches between the seat post and the handlebars. I have two concerns about this. First is that with this add on my rather expensive bike is only being supported by the seat post, which if it were to come loose... bye bye bike. Secondly, I would have to buy this adapter for each of my bikes. This adds up to more than $200 extra. This is already an expensive rack, and I refuse to pay a lot more just to make it kinda sorta work with my bikes. I have returned this rack and I am looking for another rack with a more flexible mounting system that can accommodate a wider range of frame shapes.Bike rack is really sturdy. Once installed, it doesn't budge. It's much heavier than expected. I had been waiting for a rack that could fit on our 2016 Volt. The pictures that showed that it fit convinced me to go ahead with the purchase. The instructions for installing the rack were quite clear. Just make sure to go online to get the right adjustment for your vehicle (step 1). The bands to tie the bikes to the rake are a breeze to use. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I would have expected that the lock would work with 1, 2 or 3 bikes. The lock cable is only long enough to wrap around a bike installed at the end of the wrack, so furthest from the car. If you only have 1 or 2 bikes, they have to be near the car. So the lock won't reach them. Other than that, no regrets with the purchase.I had no idea I needed a special piece not included for the frame of my bike. This resulted in us having to return the item because we weren't able to use it for our vacation. Needless to say, the bikes stayed home. Now we will wait until next year before shopping again. At least I know if I decide to go with the same product. We have two bikes, and one of them is a "comfort" bike. It is bulkier than a typical bike, and we couldn't get it on the rack with my husband's bke. We had to slide the mounts back (there was lots of room). But this meant drilling new holes. We suggest there be another set of holes for this reason. We bought the bar to add to my bike, but it isn't stable, will be sending it back. Other than that, the mount is fine, and we are happy with it.
